5/16 evening update

Good evening warriors!

Today was the best day we have had in a while! We got some amazing nurses for him today and they were great with him! When we got there they were telling us how good he has been for them this morning and they had more information written on his board so we were able to see what all was going on today! His o2 was down at 23%, they increased his feed to 15m/l every three hours, and his heart rate was staying around 120-130

Brandi did get some holding time with him and we found that Walker is having some bowel movement issues regarding gases, we talked to the doctors and were able to help him very quickly but was in some discomfort when Brandi was holding him. We then got the news that a spot opened up so he could get his MRI today so that was a change today but glad he was able to get that done today for the possibility of extubation next week! We didn’t get the results and won’t till Monday which we are okay with. While in the MRI it did take a little longer than they expected due to someone not wanting to sit still and have a dance party.. they nurses said it could’ve gone better, we have been saying he is grounded for x amount of time when he scares us and does things on his time like the trip to children’s in the middle of the night that got him 2 months of grounding… well the nurses said that with what he was doing was worth a month or two. So with that and a couple other scares he has done to us we have added up to about 7 months. We will figure out if it’s mowing the lawn down the road or dishes for years! After the MRI he was exhausted. He just laid there fully spread out and was sleeping great. He did get fed after that as well and was sleeping when we decided he wasn’t going to wake back up. He has been grabbing at his breathing tube and some of the sensors on his chest so we decided to get him some mittens on and his cousin Kaiden picked them out specifically for Walker and all of the nurses love them. They are the first article of clothing that he has gotten to wear! We FaceTimed Kaiden and let him know that Walker loves them and was smiling ear to ear.

with him being out of light therapy he was able to be swaddled all day which he loves! He seemed so much more comfortable. Which made him let the medicines work. He is still peeing and pooping enough that the doctors are happy. So I don’t have any tough things to report which is a first for this journey we have been on.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers it’s been unbelievable! When we got home it looked like an Amazon truck was dedicated to our house today with everyone that purchased stuff off our registry. Thank you so much for that. It gave us smiles all night opening up everything and seeing how love Walker has with him already!

We will be up in the morning and get the phone call from the doctors about what the plan is tomorrow and then get down there and hang out with him all day and get some more holding time. I think that’s all I have for you tonight. We do still have some stuff on the registry and will put that on here tonight. We are still working on the gofund me for everyone that is asking about that. Good evening/Good morning! Walker first full day in this world was a day of tests. Started the morning with an attempt at a pic line IV for him have better access for meditations, and things that will help with his sugars, electrolytes, and salts. Also with the IV he has right now we aren’t able to hold him with the placement of it. It is not in very far. That wasn’t successful due to how windy his vessels are. After that he got an xray to check on how his lungs and they are clearing up! Fluids are starting to leave and let him use his lungs. After that Brandi came down and checked on him and got to spend some time with him she has been absolutely amazing with getting him the nutrients that he needs. We let the doctors come in and do an echocardiogram on his heart and do some imaging. At this time his blood sugars had started to level out yesterday very low and this morning very high so that was a win! we all went upstairs and let the doctors check on Brandi and make sure she is still ...

Good morning! 5/13 morning update

Good morning everyone! Yes we have all slept. We will start with that. I wanted to thank everyone that are enjoying these updates. This is so much easier for us to post here and get the information to everyone rather than individual texts to everyone. I have made comments open as well and we are reading them on here. Thank everyone for your support. Recap: Last night after we got here to children’s they started right in giving him the best care and wanted to get a picc line established. His first two hours here we were successful on that getting put it! (Huge win!). After that it got pretty quiet in the room with him, Brandi was updated and FaceTimed with him and we all went to sleep. 5/11 morning update. Happy Mother’s Day!

Good morning everyone! First I want to say happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there. Want to give a big shout out to my mother Janet for being the rockstar that she is! She has been doing everything she can help us with everything. Second my wife, Brandi you have shown you are ready for motherhood and you are one of the strongest women I have ever met, I am beyond proud and privileged that you are the mother to Walker. You are killing it! Now the update you all came here to read, it has been an interesting night! Last night the nurses came in to do the last monitoring session of the day for Walker and the little guys heart rate has gone down! Went down to much! Was at 90-98 so he had everyone pretty freaked out and had every doctor from the OB on full alert, we gave him some time watching him on the ultrasound and his heart rate came back up to normal rhythm.
