6/11 day 35 1 month old!

Hello everyone,

today was a big day for Walker! He is officially 1 month old now!

morning round recap:

  1. weight is at 3320
  2. was very peaceful this morning
  3. no svt
  4. respiratory no more dex drops and dropped to level three at 21%
  5. feeds are good at 70 ml
  6. utine output but no bowel movements which is common with not eating for 36 hours.
  7. plan for the day get his high flow down to level three and let him rest some more and let him have his 1 month day as a relaxing day.
  8. We got there before rounds and he was so much more of the happy go lucky baby boy wasn’t fussy at all. He did have his first bowel movement after rounds and everyone was happy with that. At 11:30 we gave him a bath (didn’t take pictures) we did take pictures after the bath. The nurses called it his photo shoot for the day.

he was so good during all of this wasn’t to fussy and was just taking everything in. We did have to leave shortly after this to take care of some stuff at home but we haven’t gotten any calls about him being to bad.

Today marks 1 month of Walker in this world. As I stated yesterday this little guy is a true fighter. There has been days where we have actually thought how is he going to make through the day. With his village of people thinking, and praying for him he is here. He is strong and will bring a smile to anyone’s face. Brandi and I are so lucky to call him our son. When people said before he was born you will do anything for your kids I kinda shrugged it off but I now know the truth behind that statement. He is the reason we both get up everyday now. Yes he is not at home and we have to drive to see him but that’s what our normal is right now. We don’t have to wake up in the middle of the night because he is crying but we do because that crying isn’t there. We both have been getting the rest we can but we are both getting close to tanks empty. Days like today when he is happy, eyes wide open and letting us do the pictures gives us hope that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

There has been a lot of talk with the doctors and nurses the past couple days that he is getting closer to going to a regular floor and get out of the nicu. With that being said he needs to get stronger on breathing with the high flow at a lower level, right now he is on the max level that other floors can take him. They want is lower so he doesn’t bounce back and forth between floors.

We truly love everyone that has been on this journey with us. Walkers warriors I can’t thank you enough for everything you all have done. I know he can’t say it but when he can understand I will make sure he knows about each and every one of you.

Love

Walker, Brandi, Tyler
