6/10 update (day 34 in the hospital)

Hello everyone!

we did decide last minute that we were going home last night with him having a great night nurse we took off, we did sleep in this morning as well after have a really long day yesterday.

Here are the morning rounds information:

  1. G tube looks good surgeons came by and said we are a go for feeds through it. So now getting food!
  2. weight this morning 3330 grams, iv still in giving him fluids until we are back to his full feeds of 70ml which will be this afternoon.
  3. respiratory side no changes today tomorrow stopping the dexamethasone drops in his nose and then see if he can ween down off of level 4.
  4. cardiological side nothing has changed.

When we got here this morning he was still not a happy camper, we think he is still sore from everything and want to give a him day of rest the team has been monitoring his pain levels as well, they are giving him meds for that to help.

Physical therapy stopped by to check on him and she said we are gonna stay where we are at so far due to surgery yesterday.

Wound care stopped by to take a look at his bottom and they said it is getting better but will change some of the ointments we are giving him to help him more.

Brandi got to hold him today and I will say he isn’t fussy at all when he is with her. She knows how to calm him down and he sleeps so well while she is holding him. She is truly a rockstar.

I do want to talk about the journey we have been on already and talk about how amazing walkers mom is. Today as I said in the title is day 34 in the hospital with him. Tomorrow he is a month old, Brandi has been with him every single day. This I can’t even comprehend and I couldn’t have done it. Shows how truly amazing and lucky Walker and I are to have her be his mom. We did have a conversation about her taking a day off here soon as she totally deserves it.

Tomorrow Walker will be a month old, he will have been through a month of things we all have never been through. The poking, pricking, IVs, breathing tubes, feeding tubes, central lines, ambulance rides, heated bed, light therapy, surgery, medications, mri, ct scans, ultrasounds, EKG’s, physical therapy, multiple assessments, multiple doctors, tests, and multiple visitors. This little guy has gone through more things than I have ever had done. I am truly blessed to have such a strong son, a strong wife/mother, a great mother/glamma. Thank you everyone that has reach out checked on us, has fed our dogs, mowed our lawn, brought us food, donated to Walker, or has simply sent a prayer for us. We truly have a village that we couldn’t have fathomed that would help us through this month. We absolutely love each and every one of you. We might not have said it or haven’t gotten back to you that day but we thank you.

Love,

Walker, Brandi, Tyler
